"Safety is a community responsibility just as pleasure is a community responsibility and intimacy is a community responsibility." - Educator and sexologist Bianca Laureano @latinegrasexologist on Episode 65 of the Imagine Otherwise podcast. ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #ImagineOtherwise #art #academia #podcasts #blackfeminism #AfroLatinxfeminism #Latinxfeminism #feministsexeducation #femmes #femme #queer #gender #health #latinx #media #positivity #qpoc #race #sex #sexuality #women #IdeasOnFire #wocfeminism

Holding your head up high isn’t always easy. Doing it with pride and dignity and without resentment or superiority is even harder. But I have to remember that just because I’m striving to be dignified does not mean I should tolerate an abuse of power in my relationships, or in our society as a whole. The fact that there is even a debate going on in this country about whether or not we should allow people supporting a fascist tyrannical government, via their work, to have the anonymity of leaving work at the office and living a life where they don’t have to confront the horrors their job supports and enables, is beyond maddening. Just like the concept of reverse racism can be easily discredited by examining that racism is a structural system of oppression based on an unjust power imbalance and the privilege connected to white supremacy, the reversal of this by people of color towards white people could never be the same, because there is no structural system of oppression that is the opposite of white supremacy in existence, which would have to also be supported by capitalism and imperialism. Calling people out and confronting them with the atrocities they are enabling is not harassment, it is a radical and courageous act of justice and liberation on behalf of oppressed people, and an act that is fighting for the preservation of not only “all lives” or “blue lives” AKA straight white male lives, but of the most vulnerable of humanity; those in the most need of protecting. Don’t be afraid to harness that red fire inside, and rage out with some flowers on your head looking fabulous! 🔥✊🏾💁🏻‍♀️🌺✨🌙🌈 • • #speakup #getmad #knowyourrights #knowyourworth #befabulous #slay #confrontracism #confrontignorance #speaktruthtopower #create #fucktrump #notmypresident #feminism #latinxfeminism #chicanxfeminism #makeart #getcreative

speaking of #latinxfuturism #latinxfeminism @mimosahouselondon #naomirincongallardo #theformaldehydetrip I needneedneed a glow in the dark axolotl dildo strap on 😻 "Presented as part of The Broad’s series En Cuatro Patas (On All Fours), featuring feminist Latinx performance and media artists who ruminate on and fantasize about alternative embodiments, Naomi Rincón Gallardo’s The Formaldehyde Trip is a speculative fiction, comprising a cycle of songs and videos dedicated to murdered Mixtec activist Bety Cariño. The work is a mixture of Mesoamerican cosmologies and decolonial feminist perspectives; crafty and ornate props and settings; echoes from Mexican B movies and sci-fi films of the 1960s and ’70s; sounds and voices from the past, lurking into the future; and lyrics addressing women’s struggles against the background of the dispossession of their lands, bodies and cultures." #latinx #Mixtec #BetyCariño #Mesoamerican #cosmology #axolotl #decolonial #feminist #sci-fi #bmovies #past #future #dispossession #land #videoart #performanceart #liveart #glowinthedark #dildo #strapon
