Every now and then you have a day where you ache more than you think is normal. Today is one of those days. I have a very sore lower back and I’m not sure what I have done, or even when I did something to it. I agonised over whether I should get up and go to the gym and eventually I forced myself to come and train. I lowered my weights and substituted in some different exercises to work around the pain and I’m so glad I did it. Making excuses now only paves the way for bigger excuses later. “Motivation is what is going to get you started but dedication and forming a habit is what is going to get you to your goal.” – @autumncalabrese . In January, I could barely even do one tricep dip. And when I did manage to do one, I would cry because I was trying so hard and found that my strength just wasn’t increasing in that area. When I started working out consistently (heyyyy #80dayobsession 👋🏼), I began to build strength in ways I wasn’t even aware of. Since January, I haven’t tried to do straight-leg tricep dips. But I have been working my triceps through my 80 day program and now with my new lifting & HIIT program. . When I decided on Total Body Chisel for my second workout of #TheBigSweat, Autumn announced that the next workout was tricep dips. I silently dreaded it but pulled out my chair and got set up... only to discover that I am SO much stronger and fully able to do tricep dips. In fact, I did 3 rounds of 10 dips. Completely. Yes, my arms were burning. No, it wasn’t easy. But I DID IT 🙌🏼🙌🏼 . I’m so incredibly proud of myself. And so thankful for the increased strength I’ve been developing over the past few months. I haven’t always been motivated. But I have been dedicated and I made the choice to make fitness a habit. (And it definitely wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my team of #bossbabes who hold me accountable. 💛) . You can reach any goal you set, friends! And you can reach new heights that you didn’t even know you wanted to, like being able to do tricep dips. Even when you’re not feeling motivated, you can still do it.
